I see where the Idaho Fish & Game are stocking what they refer to as "Banana Trout" in five of the ponds on the Sand Creek Wildlife Management Area near St. Anthony. Let's follow this story and see if it leads to a "Bunch" of good fishing on the ponds in 2007.
The trout are yellow trout recently donated to Idaho Fish & Game. They are a cross between an Albino Steelhead and a normal Rainbow Trout. Interesting to say the least! Fisheries biologists will stock 2000 of the trout in each of the five ponds. Planting size will be in the 6 - 8" range.
Idaho Fish & Game are attempting to determine if the trout can survive winter season in each of the ponds. Let's hope some success is found here. Might be pretty fun catching one of these "Banana Trout". I wonder if they will "peel" line off my reel! Let's hope some survive and cross your fingers that you hook up with one next season.
